Pyrgo walk

The Pirgo terrace can be accessed from the Thaon de Revel waterfront (Via Duca D'Aosta).

The long pier, which stands out from the beach and ends with the large terrace on the sea, is the legacy of what was the most important bathing establishment on the Latium coast in the late 1800s and early 1900s: the Pirgo.According to the fashion of the time, the complex was entirely made of wood, with a main core, several piers, pitches with pagoda roofs, and the long pier on the water that allowed people to enjoy the iodine-rich air and sunshine. It also had an area dedicated to sea bathing in heated water for the treatment of joint diseases. In 1902 a violent storm severely damaged it; however, it was rebuilt and continued to be a favorite destination of Roman nobles and the royal family until 1941.Don't miss an aperitif on the terrace while enjoying the spectacle of one of Civitavecchia's famous sunsets!
